It’s raining quite heavily right now. There is going to be traffic jam later for sure.

I wonder when will I get a phone call from the company which shortlisted me? From what I read in forum, they are a bit slow and I wonder how slow?

It is about time I move on to a place where I can be involved in using new stuff, better benefits, better opportunities, freedom to act and implement with flexibility. Right now, I can’t even purchase a pendrive or external HDD for work. How? I use my own because it is necessary in order to get work done.

#1 – He did not know where he had gotten my profile.

#2 – He did not check the company background of where I am working now. He couldn’t wait to reveal the company searching for talent, probably thinking it is a some big name. By telling me how good the new company is, he is indirectly telling me my current company is bad.

#3 – He did not ask me what will be my major consideration for switching jobs.

#4 – He asked me to put my expected salary lower but insisted that the new company can afford to pay more than what I’ve asked for. His reasoning was HR department are conservative about salary jump.

If the “Big Name” is going to have such conservative HR department, what is the difference between that company and my current company?

Is it worth it to jump to another company just for that couple of hundred extra? After EPF and Tax deduction, how much is left?

I know what they’re looking for and I know my capabilities. I am also aware of the current market rate for such position. He himself said that I am a good match. He also agreed that what I am getting now is below market average.

So why ask me to lower my salary expectation? What I am asking is not even double my current salary?

Is this what talent search is about? I doubt so because previously I had a good experience with some other head hunting company. It’s just that timing wasn’t right and the job scopes didn’t quite fit at that time.

This week I am drowning of work in the office. Our new hotel is opening soon in East Malaysia. No, I don’t want to stay there. To me, a holiday needs to be pampering and moderately luxurious because I don’t get to go on one that often. At the same time, all the hotels are sending in their new layouts and designs. Honestly, I won’t be touching that until the new hotel is launched.

On top of that, I have some online system going live for the shopping mall. Not forgetting Megasale starts tomorrow. None of the mall has supplied me with the materials to be published online. Friday morning I will have to rush to put up the ad on websites and touch screens. GREAT!

Why WordPress week? My boss has given me another assignment. Something close to our department, so it is very important. The idea came after our meeting with an agency for another website. They had proposed to use WordPress as the platform. In the entire meeting room, only the presenter and myself blog. We both use WordPress.

I know the how-tos to use the platform. So the boss asked me if I can use it to build one for this pet project of his. WordPress or not, I’m the one who has to do the job anyway. I am all for using a CMS platform, so that someone else will be responsible for putting in the contents. My job will be to make sure the website functions and looks the way it is suppose to look.

So I’ve been busy working on the theme and flow. Almost done on this part.

Next comes to setting up a workstation to run WordPress on server environment. I have not done this before but I know it can be done.

Part of me is glad I have a chance to do something new based on what I have picked up on my own. At least I have something to say for the appraisal before year end. I foresee this is the direction to go for the company’s website as well.

The meetings are about getting quotations and finding the right vendor for some marketing channel that requires IT participation.

Today I don’t have to meet any vendor but I will be having a lunch meeting with the IT personnel from the hotels. Followed by a meeting with the hotel group’s marketing consultant.

It is kind of tiring after all these meetings. When I get home, I don’t wish to discuss about job, career or business ideas.

A girl just needs to be pampered and loved. That will give her the energy and drive to find a better way out. Girls don’t like serious discussions because she will do her best for love.

The lack of love often makes me give up on things I tried doing. Why would I want to do it when my partner is not really supportive? I don’t need someone to do the job for me or take part in whatever I do. I need someone to keep me alive. Feed me with what I need, fill me up with the feelings I need, give me surprises…

I love shopping, I love reading, I love to see beautiful things, I want to experience new places, new stuff, new food… I’m not asking anyone to pay for everything. Just be there for me, have some thought for me when he sees something, does not forget our plans, does not let me wait…

Seriously.

Work aside, I have something to look forward to.

I will be heading off to Sungai Klah right after my interview. Since I have taken the day off, I might as well make full use of it. I have not been to any hot spring, so I’m really looking forward to have a relaxing time.

If I live alone, I will be dancing and singing because I’m so excited. Since I live at home with my parents and brother, any show of expression is not welcomed. I wish I don’t live with them. Sometimes I don’t understand why I have a disfunction family. I grew up unhappy and still not living in happiness.

I like this arrangement (interview and fun after that) because I am more excited about the trip than to be worried about the interview.

I have also applied for another job today.

I had planned to get a hair cut on Saturday evening but was brought to a birthday party at the last minute. Although I made it to the mall around 9pm but the salon was closed.

So I postponed the hair cut to Sunday evening (yup, I only have time in the evening on weekends). The hair salon I wanted to go decided to not open that day. I was told they had to do some event, so they’re closed.

In the end I came back to my work place. Went to Centro and got a reasonable hair cut because I told them I work for the company that owns the mall.

I look different as commented by our designer from the marketing department.

My job interview stuff is coming along nicely. Only few things left on my check list. Still need to personalised my resume, print my own passport size photos, borrow my colleague’s maxis broaband and photocopy some certs.

I’m going to attend an interview next week. I wish it is just answering questions. My preparation consists of digging up files from 8 years ago. Yes, I keep all my files because people won’t hire me without looking at some of my work. I’ve been working on it slowly, trying to put them in order in the best way possible.

I hate doing this honestly. Why don’t they just give some source and ask me to come up with some design within an hour? I prefer to do work than to go through tonnes and tonnes of files

I’m stressed out. The more I look at the files the more I feel suffocated.

The company will provide me with a notebook for the interview but I have to bring my own thumb drive and broadband. Well, I am bringing an external hard disk. How do I bring broadband when I don’t have one? It is a big company and they do not have broadband for visitors to tap into?

Do I borrow my friends Maxis broadband? Can it work on 44th floor? I’m not going to sign up for some wireless broadband service just for this. It might not even work.

Stress

I want to find ways to earn that kind of money online. This extra income will help to make my life easier.

The money is not for me to go on shopping spree, holidays or fancy dining. This is the amount I need for my insurance and retirement plan.

I am in the midst of getting a new medical plan. Before I get a full approval on the new plan, I cannot cancel my old plan. So I have to service both plans at the moment for at least 3 – 6 months.

Maybe I plan too much for myself. This is for my future since I do not have a rich boyfriend or husband to support me. It’s a real suffering to work so hard yet not make enough money.

Tell me how I can make more money when I’m already working 7 days a week?

My job pays me peanuts? Everywhere they pay the same, I cannot expect a big jump in my salary. Unless I hit the jackpot in my up and coming job interview. How much do you think Petronas will pay me? I am not some gwailo musicians, I just hope they pay higher than what I am getting now.

I feel most sleepy driving in this kind of weather, especially when I get stuck in a jam.

Will I have a chance to stop driving to work once again? I used to take the LRT to work last time. It may be crowded and frustrating at times but I don’t have to be stuck in traffic for sure.

I look forward to the day when I don’t have to drive to work again.

I went to Emurse.com, a site that provides free resume deposit online. The site is pretty friendly. Sign up and use immediately. You don’t have to wait for email confirmation.

The flow is clear and simple. Editing and changes are reflected live with few seconds delay. You don’t have to click on some save button. Users have the flexibility to add more parts to selected sections such as Job Experience and Education Background  for those who has a lot to list.

After you’ve filled up everything, then you can proceed to choose the layout design for your resume. This feature is rather neat. That means you can have a nicer design.

Once you’re done. You can export your resume to several file types such as .doc, .pdf, .rtf, .html and .txt. User is also given an option to have the resume online. You can have a web address that will point to your resume if you choose to have this option.

No single resume building tool can give us 100% of what we need. So I still need to do some work but it helped me to shorten my time spent on typing and adjusting the formatting and layout. What I did was exported the resume into document and do some editing from then onwards.

Of course I could still choose to do a print out or save document directly from Jobstreet.com now that they have fixed the thing.

Yes I went back to check the printing and save option. I chose to print to Adobe PDF. There is not more ads and Jobstreet logo. I don’t know what happen, the file came out with one (1) page only.

Next I tried saving to document. The table formating is still a bit out but I could fix it by converting tables to text using the table tool.

I guess there is no free lunch in this world. If you want a job badly, you have to put in some effort. I mailed my application this morning. Yey!
