The Repeats

It is funny I have a good memory for job ads from companies all over Jobstreet. By subscribing for feeds on positions I will be interested in, I practically look at the listings everyday.

This is a good practice I must recommend to all salaried workers. It does not matter if you’re actively looking for a job or not. Keep yourself updated is important. There are many new jobs which are created due to new market trends or technologies.

Sometimes I see the same companies hiring for the same positions after some time, some will advertise for almost the entire department. That says a lot, don’t you think so? Why do people leave in group? Why is it they got someone for the position and that person left so soon?

A lot of times when people leave a job is not because they do not like the work. Most of the time the problem is caused by other factors such as company policies, lack of opportunity, not compensated accordingly to the work done.

After all this while, I find that the only one thing that does not change with time is the rigid and old fashioned policies of some companies.

Today we live in a fast paced world. Do people want to fill up forms before an interview when the same information had already been stated in the resume? Can digital certificates on an iPad be accepted? Who wants to carry their original copies all over?

Verification can be done only if the person is shortlisted. Don’t waste time doing unnecessary things. In fact most people take leave to attend interviews.

For IT or technology related positions will require additional perks like paying for phone and data, if you expect the person to response to certain alerts outside office hours.

For someone with an OK job now, in order for he/she to move to some other job, there are sacrifices involved. Benefits the person is getting in his current job, the environment, the leave he had already earned, not forgetting the bonuses he might be getting for the amount of hardwork the person put in months before.

Money is not everything. There has to be some form of compensation. If he/she can provide proof of the previous bonuses or appraisals, why not use that to evaluate and be more flexible in terms of “requirements” that every new employee must go through. A person who can and is able to show you that has nothing to hide.

I know most companies don’t care and won’t think of other ways of making things friendly and comfortable. They just do it their way. They are so afraid they hire the wrong person and they want to check candidates like they are criminals by asking for referees and make you go to some medical check up for Indon or Bangla.

Honestly, if they are so concern, why not throw in a comprehensive medical check up as a token to whoever who is going to become an employee?

People are not dumb like last time. Good people are not easily pleased nowadays. Bad people usually take up whatever job and leave for the next before you know it.

Burnt 烫伤了

做了三个月的女佣 ﹣生病看医生一次、手伤一直不好… 今天加多一项﹣烫伤!

最近一下班我就赶回家帮忙准备晚餐。平日也是我上超市买菜,买吃的。周末也是我载老妈去巴刹和超市;真的累了。

今天煎豆腐干的时候被滚烫的油烫到;擦了擦手继续煎。什么痛都把它给吞下肚子,没告诉别人。这种痛我还可以接受,忍一下习惯就算了。反正说了也还是得做,也没有人怜惜。
