We have a lot of plants at home, including water plants. Therefore, keeping mosquitoes at bay is very important because they breed in contained water.

What they teach on TV about washing all the stuff, changing water etc are not practical. How many of us can keep on washing our flower pots and vases every other day? People simply don’t bother. There are better things to do with our time. We go shopping, eat, sleep, watch TV the whole day etc.

Some people leave it to their maids for all the house work. How many of us can say that their maids are 100% reliable? My maid has been with us for more than 1 year. She has conveniently forgotten how to do a lot of housework around the house and constantly needs scoldings or reminders.

Anyway, we do have drugs to help keep Aedes mosquitoes away. It’s called Abate. All we need to do is put some in the water and it can lasts up to weeks.

The major problem why we still have many dengue fever cases is people are not aware of this drug. Most of the time I get Abate from pharmacies but the stock is so limited. Almost everytime when I ask the attendant/sales people in a pharmacy, they have no idea what I’m talking about.

Now you see why our government campaign fail big time? People don’t know anything about this drug, not even the people who are selling it. It is a shame that dengue cases still happen in areas populated by highly educated people in Subang and PJ.

Last weekend I found a better place to get the drug and at a cheaper price too. It is available in Tesco. It’s placed at the aisle where we can find insect repellent/sprays.

So start using it if you can’t do the washing and changing water everyday thing.

Sometimes I wonder is it worth it for women to have everything? Money, career, family, friends etc.

Why not just let the men take care of things? There is nothing wrong with staying home, taking care of the house, mind the kids and make sure everything is in place, so the men will have peace of mind. Rather than having 2 individuals who are highly stressed everyday.

When in a relationship, I find it very important to have lots of peace and love. However, work and constant worry about future are making it difficult for me to have a life. I don’t feel loved, I have so much to do, I’m in a job that does not go anywhere, I wish I can just disappear.

As I grow older, I realized that unless one is outstanding in terms of looks, talent, career etc, it is not worth it to try to be everything. One ends up unhappy and at the same time is unable to make the man happy. Not to mention the stress level also causes health issues.

I’m so stress now my body is reacting badly to it.

Other than that, I think women should help women too by being less selfish, less stuck up and by keeping their jealousy at bay. Hah! I’m afraid it is quite difficult for most women to see eye to eye with another in today’s society. There is bitching everywhere.

Anyways, I’ve promised to donate more to charities this year. This is a promise I made with myself and I didn’t share with anyone.

My first donation of the year goes to a local breast cancer support group. They were having charity drive in various shopping malls in the city. I stopped by the booth during lunch break last Friday, bought a button clip and donated RM2 change I got from the RM10 note.

This is something very close to my heart because my grandma had breast cancer.

I saw the same group again in KLCC last night. Not sure if they will continue the drive this week. If you happen to come across the booth, please donate. Other than buttons, they are selling fresh orchids and handphone charms as well.

I want to tell instructor EJ that I’m not giving up but swimming needs to be put on hold. If I take lessons now, it will end up the same like last time. All I did was attend class with no practice. My dad took me to class only, I did not practise at all. Unlike music, I was made to practise at least 2 hours everyday.

First of all, no time. I work 7 full days a week. Secondly, no swimming pool. I don’t think I enjoy swimming when I need to rush in traffic.

I’m not giving excuses because I don’t have time for decent hours of sleep, no time to clean up my stuff or my room even. My days consists of waking up, work, eat and sleep. I long for holidays which I don’t get to have until the end of year. Even then, I have to give priority to my mother because she needs it more than me.

We work hard because we need the money. If you’ve been in contact with sick people before, many are not given the best that they can have but we gave the best for my dad all the time. Spending money is one thing but being there can be depressing. My mother and I, we can never travel together. Someone must be home and it is either me or her. Forget about my siblings.

To the parents out there, when your children are successful and making big bucks, they won’t be here to take care of you. Just remember that. If you’re so lucky like my parents, that means one of your children is sacrificing his/her own life for you.

Some of you might say why not find a man and get married? It’s not that easy. Who does not want someone who has everything? Others have their own problems and difficulties too. I guess my life is not made to be that ordinary and simple.

I cannot complaint because they’re my parents, I have a job, we live in a nice house and we can afford what we need.

For me, I am looking forward to the day when I can live my own live, free of the weight I’m carrying with me now.

My mind had taken me far far away for the whole week. I am thinking about swimming, looking for a pool, went to a pool etc to start some sort of exercise routine.

It is exhausting. I totally suck in the water. Many hundred years ago my parents sent me to one of those group swimming class in a public pool. There I was forced to do what I have no confidence in doing. I remembered attending classes without practicing. We are not like the children today whom the parents drive them from one class to another. Besides, how can we practice without a pool?

Secondly, my sister was learning together at the same time. Double the cost!! In the end, I learned nothing and had not been swimming for the past 20 years. I have not a clue where to start.

Honestly, I often get negative comments from my family if I want to do something new. For example taking swimming lessons and keeping the hair longer. You know what? I am giving up on the hair. Will get a hair cut on Sunday and I can stop listening to someone asking me “when are you going to get a hair cut?” I don’t quite like my hair long either. Not in this weather. So I made the decision to have it cut. I don’t blame them for being sceptical about swimming class because I found the instructor via internet, I have not met him and I’m suppose to go to the condo on Sunday morning when most people prefer to stay in bed. Although I never get to stay in bed on any day for years.

What makes me want to learn swimming? I have enough of gym memberships and none of the gym can offer me what I want. I can only attend one or two classes and the timetable doesn’t suit me. I hate working with machines so it is a total waste of money. But I need to exercise and hope to be able to do the same exercises when I’m old. No pain in the joints whatever. So swimming is the best.

I believe E J is a good instructor. I hope this works for me because I totally hate the energy wasting, breathless and muscle sore kind of swimming. Is there such a thing?

…. 3 Hours Later

I smsed E J told him I would like to postpone the class to Monday evening. I was in some panic attacked mode, I need someone to go with me for me to feel some comfort. So I asked the bf. Unfortunately, he has a beach wedding to shoot this weekend but he will take me to class on Monday.

I wonder if he is allowed to use the pool and swim? Otherwise he will be so bored waiting for me in the night smoking cigarettes.

This is how much fear I have. I have no idea how to get through this. I feel like crying… but I must overcome this. I am telling myself, no more looking up information or even think about swimming for the weekend. Just keep myself busy with the classes and soon it will be Monday… probably a day of nerve wrecking in the office.

We ended up buying more than we’ve planned. The pastries looked irristable, Takoyaki was a bit disappointing, pancake is a failure, smoked salted chicken was yummy, cheap and flavourful Pan Mee… yum.

The bf and I ate a double dinner tonight. After that I made him a Enzyme drink from Lo Hong Ka. We are trying to watch our diet and bf definitely has to lose some weight. I will help him whichever way I can, so I let him try the enzyme drink. This is more for detox and losing some weight.

My tonic enzyme I keep it for the weekend classes. It is kind of expensive to drink that everyday. Mummy is drinking it more often than I do. What to do? She is richer than me.

I have read so much about making fruit enzyme from other blogs and in the newspaper.

The kitchen enzyme uses fruits skin and other plant base kitchen wastes. Put everything inside a dry container, add water, sugar and let it ferment in the dark. Check on it every other day, shake the bottle a little and harvest after 3 months. This can be used as a cleaning agent around the home.

Then there is home-made fruit enzymes for consumption. It is suppose to be beneficial for health and can also be used in cooking. I have no intention of making these, even though it is cheap and easy.

We can never tell what is growing in the container. So how safe is it to make your own fruit enzymes? I hope I don’t come across any news about someone got poisoned by home-made fruit enzyme.

If you have the same doubts as me, listen to your own little voice. You can get enzyme drinks from the shop. Just make sure it is from a reputable manufacturer.

I have started drinking Lifeforce 540 by Eu Yan Sang. It has more than 10 types of fruits and vegetables with Cordyceps.

So far I have not encountered any heatiness after drinking this like I normally do with Chinese herbs. I take a cup once a week, normally after the weekend classes.

It isn’t cheap. A bottle costs RM108 and makes 10 cups only. Since I don’t take much supplement or tonic, I guess I can make myself healthier by drinking fruit enzyme which is natural.

Before my last maid finished her contract, I enjoyed about 10 months of regular gym classes at mYoga. Ever since the maid crisis, I have not been able to attend gym. Since my contract with mYoga is up, I decided to terminate my membership.

Why? No doubt it is an excellent gym. The concept does not work for me because it is all class based. How often can I attend classes? Everyday, after work? Attend 2 or more classes in one evening? Honestly, I don’t need to torture myself to make my money’s worth. I know my body needs rest after a long day of work. There is no equipment for me to work out on my own. So I was literally throwing money away.

Before this I was attached to CF. The gym is not bad but maintenance had fallen behind and it is too crowded. I am thinking of going back to CF but this crowd issue is stopping me. Other than that, I hate the idea of being forced to commit for one year or more.

As consumers we don’t get to choose. I think it is time for our gyms or fitness centres to change their policies. When people are feeling the pinch, gym membership easily becomes the first thing they will cut from their budget. People will quit when their contract is over. At the same time, it will be hard for them to get new members due to the contract.

Why not have prepaid system? I will welcome a fair and reasonable pay per use system. I wish there are other gyms around my work place or near my house. To bad there are little or no choice left for me.
