Awareness on Aedes Mosquito

We have a lot of plants at home, including water plants. Therefore, keeping mosquitoes at bay is very important because they breed in contained water.

What they teach on TV about washing all the stuff, changing water etc are not practical. How many of us can keep on washing our flower pots and vases every other day? People simply don’t bother. There are better things to do with our time. We go shopping, eat, sleep, watch TV the whole day etc.

Some people leave it to their maids for all the house work. How many of us can say that their maids are 100% reliable? My maid has been with us for more than 1 year. She has conveniently forgotten how to do a lot of housework around the house and constantly needs scoldings or reminders.

Anyway, we do have drugs to help keep Aedes mosquitoes away. It’s called Abate. All we need to do is put some in the water and it can lasts up to weeks.

The major problem why we still have many dengue fever cases is people are not aware of this drug. Most of the time I get Abate from pharmacies but the stock is so limited. Almost everytime when I ask the attendant/sales people in a pharmacy, they have no idea what I’m talking about.

Now you see why our government campaign fail big time? People don’t know anything about this drug, not even the people who are selling it. It is a shame that dengue cases still happen in areas populated by highly educated people in Subang and PJ.

Last weekend I found a better place to get the drug and at a cheaper price too. It is available in Tesco. It’s placed at the aisle where we can find insect repellent/sprays.

So start using it if you can’t do the washing and changing water everyday thing.

Daily cursing

I’ve been cursing quite a bit behind the wheels when I am driving to and off work almost everyday.

To be honest, I am a good driver on the road. I always drive in my lane, keep a safe distance, keep to the speed limit, put on the indicator before turning, give way to others, turn on my lights etc. What I don’t understand is why are there so many morons on our roads?

Everyday without fail I see cars speeding like they’re rushing to deliver a baby at the hospital. Just recently a pregnant woman died in a car accident while her husband was rushing her to the hospital for delivery. Mother and baby both died. This is not some joke! With that kind of driving, more people will some day land in hospital, honestly!! I hope they do not cause harm to others that is!

Anyway, if we plan our journey and allow enough time to get to our destinations, there is no need to rush at all. Why not take a leisurely drive? Whenever I see people rushing, I will always say aloud in the car “If you are going to be late, wake up early, #$%^^%.”

Yesterday evening I had the worse encounter when stuck in traffic. Cars in front of the lane already moved and this Proton Waja remained stationery. There was a Proton Wira in front of me. I’m not sure if the Wira driver sounded the horn or not, but I did. Instead of moving, the Waja was going backwards. There was no reverse light, but the car kept going backwards then stopped, then backwards again then stop. This Wira driver, instead of sounding the horn, he reversed his car towards my car. Naturally I had to work on my honking skills more. Damn!!

After 5 minutes and 3 reverses of the Wira in front of me, then the Waja started to move forward. What stupidity is this? Was the driver sleeping? What was the driver doing? There was nothing wrong with the car cause it moved fast and cut into the emergency lane, joining the lane of kiasu/kiasi drivers who think they can move faster by using the emergency lane at the expense of others.

Moronic drivers beware. You may not hear me cursing but I am and I’m pretty sure others like me also do the same. If you think being cursed at is something good, I hope you pray more to redeem your sins.

We should never ever use the road by endangering other road users.
